How did you get into triathlon?
Wanted to find a creative way to drown and be outdoors in 105-degree Texas heat.
How long have you been doing triathlon?
Since January 2009.
2009: The track. 2015: The hills. 2017: Intervals.
Do you have training partners?
Absolutely. Training with others, especially those who are faster and/or more experienced, encourages me to train more efficiently, complete the full workout and be accountable for my pro(re)gression.
2009 Disco Triathlon. First triathlon! 2013 SuperFrog. 70.3 PR and I "raced" with Lance Armstrong, who won.
2008 White Rock Half Marathon. Open-heart surgery would have felt better; I have never wanted to quit a race, pass out and/or vomit so badly.
Why you do triathlons?
Because they haven't invented the quadrathlon yet.
What's next for you?
Redman and Austin 70.3
Most embarrassing moment doing sports?
In a golf tournament in high school, I hit a kid square in the back with my tee shot. He saved me from going out-of-bounds. I bought him a Pepsi.

What time do you wake up?
Between 4:30 and 5:00 AM.
Favorite song to train to?
Frozen: "Let It Go"
Out of all 3 sports- which is your favorite?
The run. Bike is a close 2nd.
What kind of food do you eat during a workout?
Clif Bars on the bike and GU on the run.
Favorite food (regular)?
Fish tacos. Thank you, California.

Other sports interest?
Football to watch and golf to play. Also rugby, but "retired" in 2007 after almost 13 years and too many concussions.
Something that you like to do that is not sports related?
Read non-fiction and do crossword puzzles.
Favorite TV show/movie?
TV: Almost anything on the Discovery or Science Channel. Movie: Black Hawk Down.
Interesting fact about yourself?
I have 4 titanium plates in the right side of my skull due to a bike accident in 1997.
What do you like to do to get away from triathlon?
Wear non-compression or wicking clothing.
